Well, I said in the last post, we finally made  it to Yellowstone National Park.  We left the rest area about 20 miles from Gardiner on Thursday morning, arrived at the RV park, set up the RV, took showers, and headed out for a day in Yellowstone.  We were entering the gate to the park at about 0930.  For you that know Sharon's sleeping habits, you know that was a great accomplishment getting out by 0930.

The archway gate is the original gate to the park.  We drove just a little further before we had to go through the gate that allows entrance to the park for a fee.  Since Sharon and I have reached the senior citizen category, we have a pass that allows us to enter free.  All others have to pay $25.00 a car load.

After we entered the park we headed straight for the visitor's center.  I did not know that at one time the US Army was assigned duty to enforce the law in Yellowstone National Park.  They also were there for protecting visitors from Indians.  Chief Joseph and his tribe once roamed these mountains.  The visitor's center is located in one of the many building left from Fort Yellowstone.  The area around the center is comprised of many of the old fort buildings now used for administration purposes for the park.

The visitor center.

The Post Office.

After we left the visitor's center we headed into the park.  I am now going to take you for a long ride through the park.  For your sake, I will just post some pictures, and make few comments.  As you know, I can get a little long on my comments.

Hope you enjoyed the quick tour.  We drove for about eight hours seeing as much as we could in one day.  I would love to be able to show you all of the pictures, but that would take a lot of time for you to view.  Yellowstone National Park is so diverse in it's topography, from grasslands, to hot springs, to rolling mountains, to rocky mountains.  It is beautiful.

Until the next posting when we go to the Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole, WY.  Take care and remember,

God Loves You

Gary
