This was our last day here at Twinlow Camp. We have had another great experience being here and working with the wonderful staff. Sandy and Karen made us very comfortable as our host in directing us in our work. Tyler, and his staff of great camp counselors, cooks, and administrative personnel, made our stay very enjoyable. We went without anything. We were treated to great meals, yes good food at camp. We never heard anybody complain about the food. The camp itself is always kept clean and neat. We met many of the campers, along with many of the adults that would come as chaperone's.
Tom and I spent our whole three weeks working on Tyler's house. Tyler is the camp director and lives at the camp year round. I have already told you about replacing the windows, well this week we replaced some of the siding that had rotted due to being exposed to water. All of the work is very visible since it is a different color from the original paint colors. Tyler has some other volunteers coming in next week to paint the whole house. It will look really good when the painting is done.
Here are a couple of pictures where we replaced some of the siding. The bottom two rows of the siding had been badly damaged by water saturating the material. We replaced the original siding with a material that will not be as badly effected by water.
Wednesday night the staff invited us to their weekly get together after dinner. That is Griz in the middle in the red shirt. He is in charge of all of the counselors. He has been in the camp business for several years. He actually has a degree in camp management.
The two to the left are Karen and Sandy. They used to be NOMADS prior to taking on the job as camp administrator and camp chief of maintenance. Sandy is a retired air traffic controller, like I am. We had some pretty good discussions on our experiences over our careers.
Sharon, Evelyn, and Tom are really enjoying the evening. The evening started off singing some really good praise music led by Griz and Tyler.
This is Tyler's house. It is hard to see, but all of the windows are the new one's. What a beautiful sight for a house. You can see the lake from the front porch.
Sharon and I will be leaving Friday morning and taking a few weeks off prior to returning to Minot, ND, for four more weeks working there. I don't know how much I will be posting while we are traveling, but keep checking in on us. I may just post a lot of pictures since we plan on visiting Yellowstone National Park, Cody, WY, Little Big Horn, and Mount Rushmore. There will be other stops, but those are the main events.
You all have a great summer, and remember,
God Loves You
Gary
