Well, we have completed seven days on our project, and progress is coming along nicely. When we started on Monday we had the front portion of the house to complete, finish up placing the windows correctly, and putting up the house wrap. As you can see by the pictures we have almost completely finished with the south wall. Sue and Art have really gotten installed the hardi board down to a science. They have installed more siding in three days than they did in four days last week. Sharon and Leanne spent the day Monday painting the siding. We are painting it before we install it. It is laid down flat on a sheet of OSB on saw horses. This lets them paint at waist level, and not have to climb up on ladders later. Some of the siding will need touching up later, but that will be easy. Steve and I have spent the week finishing tearing down the old siding and putting up OSB, house wrap, installing another window, framing the window, and some trim work. It was raining a little today, so we were able to finish some of the trim around the windows inside of the house.
We are all very excited at the way the house is transforming. We are also having a great time. I have met some great new friends in our team members. Art and Sue are doing a great job of keeping us on track with the work, and making sure that we work safely.
Here is Steve making sure we have enough staples in the house wrap to hold it up in the wind.
Still installing trim around windows and the electrical boxes. You can see the weather seal tape along the edges of the windows. The tape makes a good tight seal to prevent air and water from getting around the windows.
This is where we are as of Wednesday afternoon. It rained most of this morning, but that did not keep us from getting some work done.
The end with house wrap is the last area to be completed.
You can't tell by the hood covering her, but this is Sharon. She is dragging a magnet to pick up the nails and screws that we dropped on the ground. She she filled about a quarter of an old coffee can.
It gets so hot here in south Texas that they have installed these big fans everywhere. They sure put out a lot of wind. Wish sometimes we could get them to turn them off.
Remember, God Loves You.
